The 2026 REPAIR Annual Meeting Program convened around 80 representatives of Finance Ministries and delivery channels of participating countries and program partners in Johannesburg, South Africa, from March 24–26, 2026. Delegates from Angola, Burundi, Comoros, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Seychelles, Zambia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo gathered for peer-to-peer exchanges, to evaluate the program’s first 18 months of implementation and to refine the ‘menu of solutions’ for future phases.

Since the beginning of 2026, the Regional Emergency Preparedness and Access to Inclusive Recovery Program (REPAIR) has prioritized the urgent needs of climate-impacted communities by disbursing in excess of USD42 million to Madagascar, Malawi, and Mozambique.

Phase 2 approval expands program’s reach and impact. The approval of Phase 2 of REPAIR by the World Bank in July 2025 to include Angola, Burundi, Malawi, Seychelles and Zambia represents an exciting new milestone in the program’s development. This expansion comes with an envelope of USD400 million, which will go to supporting the financial and operational readiness of an additional 12 million people to natural shocks.
